With great reluctance, you're forced to let the traitorous wall watch your back while you use your shield to protect you from the front. This works out pretty well, though. The wall doesn't let you down a second time, letting you hold out against the thugs banging on your shield. It even looks like the clamor is starting to get the Moonbrook Brigade's attention.
Use that clamor to your advantage. Let the Moonbrook Brigade take care of the thugs while you keep the thugs' attention. Use the clamor to let you surprise the thugs and defeat them once and for all.
