Westfall

The Admiral looks approving. "When I was your age, I, too, wanted to understand the world," he says. "And this particular issue has been on my mind recently." He gets up and leads you unstopped through hidden passageways in the Deadmines to a cabinet of old papers. Rifling through them, he finds a surprisingly lifelike image on one of them, either painted or transcribed from life by some feat of goblin technology. "Edwin always was a tinkerer," the Admiral comments, flipping the paper over. On the back, there's another image, just as lifelike. It shows a young woman talking and laughing with a lonely-looking man holding a baby. Under the image is written in pen: "Verna Furlbrow & Edwin VanCleef. Sorry Theodore couldn't make it. We know he would have loved to meet Vanessa." The Admiral mutters, "Theodore Furlbrow and his wagon. I never met the man." "But I did," says a voice from over your shoulder. "When I got a little older." Vanessa VanCleef is standing behind you. She's the woman from the picture, and also your current employer, one and the same. She doesn't look any of the ways you've seen her look before. She just looks somewhere between sad and nostalgic. It matches Edwin's expression. "The only living people who knew I existed," she says, picking up the paper, "recognized my face from when I was an infant. I took no pleasure in their deaths." She starts shaking a bit. "I don't care that they betrayed my parents. I shouldn't have had to kill them. But the Defias legacy...it's all I have left. My father would have valued it over his friends' lives." She doesn't seem to even notice you and the Admiral any more. "No traitors, ever. We just hold down the fort until everyone here is free from Stormwind, damn them. You're all with me here, right? We do this together."

Affirm your loyalty. While she's distracted, kill her.
