You put your hand over the officer's mouth and drag him into a side room, looking over your shoulder every so often to ensure that you aren't being followed. So far, so good. You manage to get him into an alcove without obvious detection. The nearest guards look a fair distance away. You choose this moment to speak. "I'm trying to save your skin here," you hiss under your breath to the officer. "Now be quiet." His face shifts noticeably as understanding seems to dawn on him. He stops struggling and goes limp, corpse-like. Perfect. You carry the officer through the vast, twisting passageways of the Deadmines. Looks like this is a normal occurrence. Nobody stops you. Your arms feel tired by the time you reach the cove that seems to terminate the Deadmines. A vast ship with a number of dinghys is under construction here. Pretending to be one of the workers transporting supplies, you get onto a dinghy and quietly move towards the edge of the cove with your charge. As the boat scrapes the exit, the officer steps out of the boat to leave. "Well," he says, "looks like the end of the road. I don't know what I can do to repay you, friend. For myself, after all the death and corruption here, I'd head off somewhere quiet—hell, maybe the southern jungles, I don't know—but if you need anything, let me know, and I'll do my best."
Ask him to come back with you to Westfall. He could be a valuable asset. Maybe you don't need your Defias connections any longer if you work with him. Leave with him. He's right about Westfall. Go somewhere else. You've earned it. Let him go. He's on his path; you're on yours. Send him off and head back to the Defias.
