Laine takes you to the town of Moonbrook just outside the Deadmines. A brief talk with a blue-skinned man surrounded by incense burners, and you're suddenly transported to a blurry vision of the ship you were just on. You see a scene of a young woman talking and laughing with a lonely-looking man holding a baby. Then the scene distorts. Suddenly, you're in a field at the border of Westfall. The woman is dying with her husband, killed by a grown-up version of what was a baby seconds ago. The man you saw before isn't anywhere to be seen. You can clearly see on the dying woman's hand the cog tattoo that signifies membership in the old Defias, the one that rose and fell before you ever came to Westfall. And suddenly the killer is right in front of you. You're not in a vision any more. Laine and the incense-burning man are unconscious. The killer is Vanessa VanCleef, your recent employer. "I couldn't help it," she says. "They left on us. I couldn't let them live. The Furlbrows were traitors. I couldn't spare them without dishonoring my father's legacy, even if they were some of his closest friends. Nobody gets to defect from the Defias and live. You never left us, right? Now that you've found out the answers you wanted, we can just forget this ever happened."
Take Vanessa's offer. Spurn the offer. You've gotten answers. If you wanted to stay loyal to Stormwind, you can until the end of this story.
